STRENGTHEN:

The strength exercise of the month is a at home dumbbell routine that can be at home or in a gym. I purchased by home weight set from Telk Fitness. Refer to the “ Shop” section of this blog for instructions on how to purchase. For this workout, I would recommend 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps if you are looking to build muscle. I would recommend 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps if you are trying to work more on muscular endurance and to avoid gaining muscle mass. I personally, always look to build muscle so I stick to 8-12 reps for my workouts. Comment below with your thoughts on the workout and also to ask any questions.

EXPLORE:

I would recommend taking a visit to Oahu, Hawaii if you get the chance. Some people say that it’s too touristy or busy but being from Los Angles, I think it’s perfect! The vibe is super relaxing yet there is tons to see and do if you are in the mood to be adventurous.

I stayed at the Marriott Ko’Olina Beach Club which had multiple beautifully landscaped pools and a phenomenal view of the ocean. It is located on the south side of the island and is within walking distance of Disney’s Aulani resort which was exciting for me since I’m a big Disney fan. There was also a quant marketplace within walking distance that had some nice restaurants and bars for a little night life action. However, the island is pretty quiet after 9pm just as an FYI.

Now if you’re looking for adventure then I would definitely recommend taking a hike through the Diamond Head State Monument which is in Honolulu. The view at the top is breath taking! Another amazing hike is the Haleiwa Waterfall which is on the North Shore. There are plenty of great places to eat around there and the hike is very mild. You get to stroll through a beautiful botanical garden on your way to the waterfall and you can even get in the water! Other places that I recommend visiting are the Polynesian Culture Center and the Kohana Rum Distillers. Both will provide you with a little history which is awesome if you’re into that.

EAT:

A restaurant in Mid-City, Los Angeles recently opened called Eleven City Deli. It’s got a cool 1070’s diners theme that feels very nostalgic when you walk in. I wasn’t born i the 70’s but it reminds me of old TV shows like Happy Days. The have an amazing $6 happy hour during the week and they also serve breakfast all day! I’m a big fan of breakfast so that’s a big selling point for me. In addition to having a full bar, they also serve real Root Beer from a barrel. You can order a frothy bottomless mug for $6. It’s worth it for that authentic Sarsaparilla taste. They also can make you a spectacular Root Beer float with that same barrel kept Root Beer. I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.
